This month we are saving the earth from an asteroid. This didn’t lend much in the way of ideas for recipes, so we did a quick social media poll a few months ago about what their last meal on earth would be. Most answers seemed to be Italian based, maybe because a lot of people associate Italian food with comfort food. Anyway, we decided that we would celebrate Italian astronomer Galileo Galilei at the same time this month since it was his theories that helped turn around western astronomy to a heliocentric model. With all that said – for dinner, we have Baked Mostaccioli, a pasta dish. As a side, we have Tuscan “Galaxy” Soup, our take on Zuppa Tuscana. For dessert, we have an easy-to-make pan dessert, the Asteroid Crunch.
DRINKS
This month we have a rum-based drink, the Cosmos, and a heavy-on-the-vodka drink called Into the Sun. The latter features one of the space program’s more famous innovations, tang! The nonalcoholic drink of the month is Solar System Punch, a fruity group-sized beverage.
